Dryer vent cleaning is an essential home maintenance task that removes lint, dust, and debris from the dryer vent and exhaust duct. This lint and dust gathers over time and with use and clogged dryer vents can lead to reduced airflow, decreased efficiency, and can be a fire hazard.

Our Midtown Chimney of Provo uses a compressed air sweeping system with video inspection so you can see the Before and After of our Dryer Vent cleaning!

Why is chimney cleaning important?

With safety our highest priority, we ensure all fireplace and chimneys are inspected properly.

Our fireplace store options are online and in person, and we mostly sell products off of our color brochures when we are out in the field.

Over time and use, chimneys build up a substance called creosote. This highly flammable material can have the potential to cause damage and risk to your home and loved ones.

What are the chimney inspection regulations in Provo, UT?

Fireplace manufacturers and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) have different regulations depending on what type of fireplace or stove you own. It’s recommended that factory-built fireplaces and masonry fireplaces get inspected annually and swept out when the buildup of soot reaches 1/8”. Bio-fuel pellet and wood stoves, on the other hand, should be swept and inspected every year.

The warranty on your fireplace or stove may be voided if these regular chimney cleanings are not strictly followed.

How often does a fireplace need to be cleaned?

According to the National Fire Protection Association Document 211, “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” It is recommended to have your chimney or wood-burning stove inspected annually. Even if you only use your fireplace a few times a year, things such as rain and freezing conditions can damage the chimney, flue, or damper, resulting in poor performance. This can also lead to more expensive repairs down the road.

Level I –  a thorough visual scan of the exterior of the fireplace. This is most often adequate for annual inspections.

Level II – a visual scan and a live video scan of the interior of the chimney. This is done to look for damage or debris. It is required for realtors, property managers, and new homeowners as ownership changes.
