Derrick came to my house right before Christmas. He was very friendly, but professional and polite. I learned so much from his service about the chimney condition of the house my husband and I recently purchased. It was a mess, but the cleaning made things look much better! I was recommended to Midtown and specifically Kurt by my next door neighbor. We needed to get a liner in our utility flue as it did not have one and wanted an opinion on our wood burning chimney. Kurt came out and did a thorough inspection of both and we had him install the utility liner and had some decisions to make about the fireplace chimney as there were several issues. We discussed all the options and in the end decided to go with a conversion to gas. Kurt came to our house and helped us to design the fireplace and pick out all the options. He was helpful with the permit process which can be quite a hassle and even coordinated with the plumber who had to install the gas line. Once the permits were approved he installed the unit in a day and then came back 2 days later after final inspections to finish the work. Kurt was very professional and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him very highly to anyone.

The fireplace and chimney were thoroughly inspected by Derrick in the house my son was purchasing. The previous owners had stopped using the fireplace and not surprisingly issues were found. The chimney problems were remedied and a wood burning insert was chosen for the fireplace so that extra heat could be provided in the room during the winter. Kurt and Derrick were very responsive to questions we had during the repairs, and after the work was done. Kurt was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient in providing detailed information on the workings of the insert (being novices that we were). Attached is a picture of the fireplace insert. I would recommend Kurt and Derrick at Midtown Chimney Sweeps should you need to get your fireplace & chimney inspected or if you need repairs or a wood burning stove/insert.

Kurt and Derrick were excellent to work with. They provided a comprehensive inspection of our fireplace and chimney. During the course of the inspection there were several cracks and other hazards identified within the panels in the firebox. These cracks were a potential hazard that, left untreated, could have caused a chimney fire. Derrick was very thorough and professional. He took the time to show me and explain what the issues were. In addition, he provided a very thorough chimney inspection report with pictures. Kurt was great to work with as well, regarding the installation of the new panels in the firebox. Again, very thorough and professional. I highly recommend using Midtown Chimney Sweeps in Hillsborough.

Derrick did an excellent job explaining what service he was going to provide, and worked conscientiously to finish.In addition, he took time to answer many questions, especially why a lingering summertime smoky odor might occur long after no wood was burned.Since 2015 I have had frequent fires in the fireplace during the winter, and get the chimney cleaned every year.Derrick has done the best job.

This place refused to give me a quote on getting a liner replaced for my chimney because I was shopping around. The great value was in the information provided, products (not sold by Midtown) that help with creosote build up, products to clean the fireplace surround, and features that differentiate grates. Very pleased with the work. I called to have my gas fireplace inspected, they happened to have a technician in the area and he was able to come to the house the same day. I was concerned there was some heat damage to the chimney but after a thorough inspection, I was told my chimney and gas fireplace were in complete working order and free from any issues.

Great, affordable, quick chimney guy. We got a level 2 chimney inspection and had the back and bottom panel of our chimney replaced. I would recommend Kurt to anyone who needed work on there chimney. He was very nice and considerate, covered the area he was working in and had a HEPA vacuume. Also answered alot of my questions on how to use our fire place properly. We wanted a level 2 chimney inspection because we bought a house and the inspector recommended it. That made us call lots of people in local advertisements which all said they do a level 2 inspection but when they got to the house said they only do a level 1. I am so glad my husband found this guy on Google. We literally did not use our fire place until we got the level 2 inspection and thank goddness we waited because a chimney sweep cleaning came with the inspection and it needed to be cleaned so bad. A pile of soot 2ft high even with the vacuum sucking up the soot as he cleaned slowly as to not make a mess. Anyway I highly recommend Kurt/midtown chimney sweeps.

I am very pleased with the quality of the service received. The company was quick to respond via phone and email. The worker who came out to the house was curtious, respectful and pleasant. More importantly the recommendations that were made for immediate and future chimney needs were fair and appropriate. They gained my trust by not trying to up-sell me on a bunch of stuff that I did not need but letting me know the risks and timing for imminent repairs.
