Chimney Sweeping
Chimney cleaning and maintenance holds paramount importance due to the accumulation of a combustible substance called creosote. Creosote builds within the chimney or flue and stoves after use. Regular removal of soot and creosote mitigates the risk of chimney fires, safeguarding your home.
Chimney & Fireplace Repairs
Fireplaces, the heart of your home, withstand quite a lot—intense heat, moisture build-up in the flue, and the harsh winter weather. Our charming older homes, with their stories and character, often come with chimneys that show the wear of time. You might notice bricks starting to loosen or see that the chimney above the roofline doesn’t stand as straight as it used to. Sometimes, chimney caps go missing, which exposes the flue even more to the elements and critters. Trust Midtown Chimney Services for all your fireplace and chimney repairs!
Fireplace Installation
As your reliable and knowledgeable chimney experts, we handle installations with precision, care, and a deep understanding of local regulations. We offer installations for wood-burning, natural gas, propane, electric, and pellet-burning appliances.
If you need to reline your chimney or install a brand new insert, Midtown Chimney Services has got you covered.
Dryer Vent Cleaning
Don’t forget the Dryer Vent! Dryer vent cleaning is a crucial yet often overlooked part of home maintenance. Over time, lint, dust, and debris accumulate in your dryer vent, restricting airflow and increasing the risk of fire. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, thousands of home fires are caused each year by clogged dryer vents. You can schedule your Dryer Vent cleaning with your sweep with your trusted Midtown Chimney technician!
Total Water Protection
Water is one of the biggest threats to your chimney and fireplace, leading to costly damage like cracks, deterioration, and mold growth. Midtown Chimney Services offers total water protection solutions to safeguard your chimney from leaks and moisture infiltration. From professional waterproofing sealants to properly installed chimney caps and flashing, our expert services help prevent structural decay and costly repairs.
Gas Fireplace Service and Repair
From ignition problems to gas leaks, Midtown Chimney Services’ certified technicians diagnose and repair all gas fireplace issues efficiently. We understand the urgency of fireplace issues, especially during colder months. Our team arrives equipped to handle everything from pilot light failures to thermopile replacements. A properly maintained gas fireplace reduces energy waste and improves indoor air quality. Get your fireplace working safely and efficiently—contact us for expert repairs today!
Frequently Asked Questions
Are There Chimney Inspection Regulations?
You bet! Before honoring their warranties, most manufacturers require consumers to follow the regulations set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). For stoves that burn cord wood and bio-fuel pellets, the recommendation is an annual sweep. Masonry fireplaces and factory-built fireplaces should be cleaned when the soot level reaches 1/8” thick on the inside walls of the chimney.
How Often Does a Fireplace Need to be Cleaned?
The NFPA’s Document 211 reads, “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” It’s advised that you have your fireplace checked annually, regardless of how often you use it. Even if you only use your fireplace so often, you ought to arrange an inspection to verify that your chimney and fireplace lack issues such as loose dampers, leaves or nesting debris blocking the flue, or broken air shutters.
Do I Need an Inspection If I Don’t Use my Fireplace Often?
The short answer is, yes! Even if you rarely or never use your fireplace, your chimney is still exposed to the elements, can collect debris, and may develop hidden structural problems. Scheduling a routine chimney inspection can prevent costly repairs, improve home safety, and give you peace of mind—even if your fireplace stays cold all year!
Do Gas Fireplaces Need to Be Cleaned?
Yes! While gas fireplaces burn cleaner than wood-burning fireplaces, they still require regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity. Even though gas burns without producing creosote, dust, soot, and carbon deposits can still accumulate inside the fireplace, on the burner, logs, glass, and venting system.
