Protect Your Chimney with Total Water Protection

Summer is the perfect time for family vacations, barbecues and bouts of severe weather. Yes, that’s right – the onslaught of heavy rainfall during a severe thunderstorm can make it impossible for us to ignore all the leaky spots in our home. These storms threaten lives and cause billions of dollars in damage. The average homeowner with a fireplace deals with the effects of this severe weather on their chimney. Inevitably, water will fall to its lowest point and find cracks and crevices to leak through, causing a ‘leaky chimney’. We have solutions to prevent and fix leaky chimneys, and it’s our desire to do our best to protect and elongate the life of your chimney.

State-of-the-art technology is behind the three treatments that we provide to protect your chimney and fireplace from water damage: Chimney Saver, Flash Seal, and Crown Coat. The combined application of these three innovative products is what we like to call Total Water Protection. Total Water Protection is the white glove service that we provide to extend the life of your chimney and prevent water damage to your home. Here’s how it works:

The bricks that comprise your chimney are very porous. As such, they allow water and condensation to pass through regularly. Due to temperature changes, this process can be damaging to these bricks; as water expands in the bricks, it causes them to break off in bits, known as spalling. Spalling can cause significant time and money invested in chimney repair.

ChimneySaver is a solution that, when applied, reduces water penetration by nearly 100%. The product bonds with the surface of your chimney to provide extensive water repellent protection even at hairline cracks, all the while allowing for water vapors that are part of the burning process to pass through the bricks to the outside world. See how it works!

Crown Coat is an application for the the cement cover of your chimney known as the crown – this  area develops cracks from exposure to the elements and the freeze/thaw cycle. Cracks at this level allow water from precipitation to leak straight down into your chimney. These cracks are a common occurrence that are best remedied early in the life of a chimney with Crown Coat. This premixed sealant provides a waterproof membrane to the top of your chimney. See how it works!
