Fireplace and Chimney Cleaning Services in Lancaster, California

Why should regular chimney cleaning matter to you?

A substance known as creosote accumulates in fireplaces and stoves as wood burns. If you don’t clean the creosote away regularly, it can fuel a fire inside the chimney.

What are the chimney inspection regulations?

Regardless of the type of fireplace you own, the manufacturer and the National Fire Protection Association have similar regulations. Annual cleaning is recommended stoves that burn wood or pellets. For masonry or factory-built fireplaces, cleaning when the soot level reaches 1/8” is recommended, along with annual inspections. Many manufacturers will refuse to honor warranties on products that have not been serviced according to regulations and their owner’s manual.

How often must a fireplace and fireplace be cleaned?

The National Fire Protection Association Document 211 states, “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” In order to be sure your fireplace is working soundly and hadn’t fallen into disrepair, have it inspected every year.

Types of Chimney Inspections We Offer

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)  recognizes 3 levels of fireplace and chimney inspections. The three inspection levels increase in their invasiveness as the numbers increase; for example, Level II inspections are more involved than a Level I inspection, and Level III is more involved than a Level II chimney inspection. Following is a brief description of the different types of fireplace and chimney inspections that all certified Chimney Professionals offer.

  • Level I Chimney Inspection

This is your annual chimney inspection performed with every chimney sweep. Level 1 inspections satisfy the annual inspection requirement per NFPA 14.2. It is a thorough visual scan of all readily accessible portions of the chimney, appliance and connector pipes.

  • Level II Chimney Inspection

This is a more invasive inspection that requires the technician to inspect all accessible portions of the chimney, appliance and flue. This is required for all real estate professionals and property managers who are managing a home sale or transaction. When a residence changes ownership the fuel type changes, or any structural damage has occurred to the home, a Level II Inspection should be ordered. A Level II inspection requires roof access, and a live scan video of the inside of the flue.

  • Level III Chimney Inspection

This is the most invasive chimney inspection recognized by the NFPA 211. It requires the removal of bricks, drywall, or other building materials in order to allow the technician to gain access to the area that needs inspection. We do not quote these prices over the phone due to the unique nature of each job.

Antelope Valley, and Santa Clarita Valley, Dryer Vent Cleaning

Dryer vent cleaning in Lancaster, and Palmdale, CA?

Your clothes dryer expels debris such as lint and pet hair through the dryer vent duct with each use. If the vent is not cleaned out regularly, the lint and high-heat electric element can combine and cause a fire. An annual inspection will allow you to properly know the condition of your appliance.

How often should the dryer vent be cleaned?

Every 6 months you should inspect the area around your dryer vent for damage and once a year the vent should be cleaned out.  This may or may not require professional pro-spin cleaning tools. Inspect the connector hose for damage. The damage might be tiny holes which develop in the flexible pipe which connects the dryer to the vent in the wall.
